Creative Waiting

Day 4

Guided Meditation

Take 10 minutes to pray with Marist Father Michael Whelan as he leads you through a guided meditation on the felt sense. Let God speak to you through your body....

I want you to ask some open ended questions. I want you to go in here and listen. Pay attention.

Then we will lead into the contemplative part. Which is “I see before you the Lord’s servant” from the Gospel. Repeat that over. As you repeat it over, listen to your tummy. Listen down here.

In the third part, we will move onto Nazareth. And that, really is. About your tummy.

Take up a comfortable position. It is the experience of religions that symmetry helps relaxation. To fold your arms is not a relaxing position. Hands on thighs with index finger. Feet apart on the floor. Back comfortably straight. Close your eyes and cut out visual stimuli.

The first open question. Go within.

How are you?

Let how you are come to you.

Pause…

The second open question.

What matters press for attention at this moment?

Let them come. Let each one come. Feel and listen. Presence. Non-Judgemental.

Pause…

The third open question.

Which of these matters most and presses for attention? Let the others go.

Get a felt sense.

Pause…

What trigger it? … Who is involved?....

Use an incomplete sentence to encourage the felt sense….it is like…it feels like….

Pause…

Where in your body does it make itself most felt? What is that like?

Pause…

How does it prompt you to think?

Pause…

Have you ever experienced this felt sense before?

Pause…

Try the incomplete sense again….it is like….it feels like….sought of….

Listening all the time.

Pause…

We place ourselves and the people in our lives in hands of God. Mindful of God’s presence.

We pray Mary’s prayer. “I see before me the Lord’s servant. Let it be done to me according to your word”.

Pause…
