Day 1 Jan 4 Flight

After awakening at ungodly hours of the morning (some of us were up at 4am!) Andrew, Sarah, Maria, Margaret, Sophie and Bo gathered at Sydney Airport bright eyed and eager to take to the skies. Our plans were kept in check by a very long check in line that seemed to almost end with us and flight delays. In spite of this we were soon finding ourselves in Manila meeting with the final member of our group, Judy. We had a lovely dinner at the airport, all of us being together for the first time. After another delay we were soon in the air again, this time coming ever closer to Davao. Finally we were there! Even if we were all a little exhausted.

We arrived at 10pm local time (1am Sydney time) a little worse for wear but greeted by a crowd of cheering Marists; our first encounter with the ineffable Marist spirit here in Davao! With a slight miscommunication, they had anticipated our arrival at 4pm but greeted us enthusiastically none the less when we finally arrived. After showering us with beautiful floral garlands and handmade bracelets, the obligatory photo shoot ensued. Afterwards, we finally made our way to our hotel where we could finally sleep.
